Come join us for a MemorialDay Cellebration Dinner honoring all veterans and providing scholarships for Arizona students interested in careers in aviation. This celebrated event in Scottsdale will be held on/about Memorial Day 2020, at the Scottsdale Airport. On the podium will be emcee and nationally syndicated radio host, iHeart Radio’s Melissa Sharpe, along with Mayor W.J. “Jim” Lane, who will provide Memorial Day comments. The honored guests will be recipients of the Thunderbird Field II Veterans Memorial aviation scholarships and several WWII veterans.
Proceeds from this fundraising event will benefit the Thunderbird Field II Veterans Memorial and its scholarship program for students interested in careers in various aspects of the aviation industry. Additionally, funds will be used for the educational kiosks at the Memorial. These touch screen kiosks highlight the history of the airfield and provide a tribute to all Veterans.
Attendees at the VIP dinner/event will experience pre-dinner festivities at the Veterans Memorial and under the Memorial centerpiece, a Stearman PT-17 bi-plane manufactured on 9/11/1941. Attendees will then move to the airport banquet facilities overlooking the tarmac and runway for a silent auction and dinner.
The Venue – Starting under the Stearman PT-17 at the Thunderbird Field II Memorial for champagne and hors d’oeuvres, 15000 N Airport Drive, guests will move into the airport banquet facilities, mere feet away. The event will celebrate all Veterans. After the somber POW-MIA tribute ceremony, dinner will be served and several WWII veterans will be introduced as will the first two recipients of the Thunderbird Field II Veterans Memorial scholarship program.
